Akron Art Museum

Connections: You never know where a connection may lead you. Check out the story about how I got in the biggest show to date of my career.

My wife and I lived in Grand Rapids Michigan for 8 years... this is where I built my metal business. We decided to move back home to Ohio near our families. This was all made possible due to the fact that my online business (etsy) was doing so well. So we packed up our life and moved home! After we settled in, I was hanging out with my father-in-law. We went to this Market place with shops and hundreds of vendors. I looked into opening a store in the market place... it sounded great.. so i went for it! The summer was so successful.. selling loads of metal and handing out thousands of business cards. One day in late August a woman walked up to my store... it turns out she owns a salon in Akron Ohio..(here is the full story on that). She loved my work and, now is carrying my line of jewelry and some furniture in the salon... Well.. down the street is the Akron Art Museum , and the lady who runs the Museum store gets her hair cut at this salon... She noticed my work and e-mailed me and asked if i wanted to be in the Museum's Holiday Mart... They also want to carry my line of jewelry permanently in the store...
Here are some pics of the amazing Akron Art Musem and the post card that went out to loads of people.

That is wonderful, congrats!

On a much smaller scale, something similar happened to me...I decided to take a painting class (unrelated to anything I planned to sell on Etsy-just for me)& the instructer hooked me up with her neighbor who runs a craft boutique in her home each holiday season. I've participated for the past 2 years and have had many sales!

Congratulations! My friend Jera was telling me about her plans for tomorrow night (at the museum), and started telling me about your metalwork... she didn't know that I know Christina, and I said, wait a minute! I want to go too! :) I think your work is fabulous. I'll be there to check it out tomorrow!
