Very Quick Google Tip for your Etsy shop

Here is a little quick tip to get your Etsy shop further up in the Google search.

I have done some research and I have found the first thing that Google searches on Etsy when it sends out it's spiders is your Etsy shop Title.

Your Etsy shop title is located directly under your sweet banner. Take a closer look at the picture to the left.. you will notice my title..

This is how you change your Etsy shop title.

You need to use words that have relevance in your shop. You can change words around to see what combination results in the best results.

Feel free to search my shop title and see the results.. My Etsy shop is in the top 10 with many different combinations of searches pulled from my title.

Good luck in 2009!!

Thanks Tim. Great tip!

Silly me! And I thought I was being pretty thorough getting my Etsy Shop going. I didn't even HAVE anything in my shop title, because I thought it would be redundant to have BirkeloArt underneath my banner, which says the same thing. Thanks for calling my attention to my goof up.

Great tip.

When I type in "Contrariwise Jewelry" in google, EVERYTHING on the first couple of pages of search results is about me.

When I type in the word, "contrariwise", my shop and my blog are 6th and 7th on the search results, respectively.

Timothy, Thanks for the great advice. I have changed how I link to stuff on my blog, linking with words instead of photos. I also tweaked my shop title slightly after playing with the keyword search a little on google. Your post here also prompted a funny blog post of my own. Many thanks.

I did this and it worked to improve my searchability. I changed my shop description from 'Get some Zen' to 'Get some Zen: art with a haiku aesthetic'. Then I did a Google search for 'art, zen, haiku'. At first I wasn't at all visable; buried under an avalanche of books, blogs, articles etc, etc. After a couple of weeks, the spider got around to my shop and took up the new description, now the same search brings me to the top of page 3. A tiny bit of digging and there I am.
This is really great!!!!
cheers
Andrea

Wow I never realized the shop title was so important.

I just fixed it.

Use to say "it's all about the energy" Lot of good that was doing me...Not!

I used Handmade first like you and then added the other relevant words.

Thank you so much Timothy
